Another St. Louis resident loses property via Recorder of Deeds Office ST. LOUIS – For the second time, the You Paid For It team has found a case of a homeowner scammed out of their property with the help of the St. Louis Recorder of Deeds.Jay Brandon says he paid $15,000 for his house in north St. Louis, only to discover three days later that the ownership had been transferred to someone else through a quitclaim deed.“Well, I purchased this home back in February. I was coming by and I was checking on my property and I saw some people working on it,” Brandon said. “I was just like, dang, so I pulled up and I asked them what was going on, and they said they had been hired by the new owner to clean out the house.”Brandon turned to the St. Louis Recorder of Deeds, which approved the quitclaim deed and allowed the deal to go through.“They told me I had to obtain a police report first. Murder-suicide investigation in Cahokia Heights CAHOKIA HEIGHTS, Ill. - Two families in Cahokia Heights are grieving following a domestic murder suicide.A spokesperson for the Cahokia Heights Police Department received a 911 call Tuesday around 1:30 p.m. about a car running off the road and into a tree line near Robert Price Road and Park Drive. When the police arrived, officers saw that one car had struck a tree. A man and woman were found inside the vehicle, suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were rushed to a hospital, but they later died from their injuries. LOUIS – An hours-long standoff in south St. Louis ended Tuesday night with an armed suspect shooting himself.Just after 3:50 p.m., a man was shot in the buttocks in the 4100 block of South Grand Boulevard and taken to a hospital.The suspected shooter barricaded himself inside a home while police attempted to make contact with the individual.After hours of giving commands and trying to coax the suspect to come outside, police went inside and claimed to have found the man dead.

‘You’re a hero’ - Injured Franklin County officer welcomed home WASHINGTON, Mo. – It was an emotional night in Washington, Missouri, on Tuesday as a large crowd welcomed home a local hero who was critically injured in the line of duty.Hermann officer Adam Sullentrup was shot in the head back in March. Around 8 p.m. Tuesday, people lined Highway 100 in Franklin County to show their support as he was escorted back home.Sullentrup had been recovering at a hospital in Colorado. He suffered a serious brain injury as a result of the March shooting. Officials reopen on and offramp for 10 Freeway drivers in downtown L.A. Commuters headed to downtown Los Angeles on Wednesday morning will be able to use several on-and-offramps that have been closed since the Nov. 11 pallet fire erupted, prompting the closure of the 10 Freeway from Alameda Street to Santa Fe Avenue.  The westbound I-10 Alameda Street offramp and the westbound I-10 onramp from Santa Fe Avenue/Mateo Street/East 8th Street will be open before the Tuesday morning commute, Caltrans announced.  (Caltrans)“The shoring below the Alameda Street off-ramp is complete and safety inspections confirmed it can be open to traffic,” officials added. However, Caltrans also said that the area is still a “construction zone” and the speed limits on the offramp have been reduced from 35 miles per hour to 25 miles per hour. "Bronwyn" is a 60-year-old white woman who stands 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighs 170 pounds.
