Disabled residents in a Boston public housing complex say they were trapped in their apartments for 15 days because of a broken elevator. 7 Investigates found elevator emergencies are cause for concern across the city. “It’s been going on for so long. It’s not like a today thing or a yesterday thing, it’s been a long term thing,” said Lisandre Montes.Montes lives on the fifth floor of the Ruth Lillian Barkley building in the South End. For more than two weeks, the building’s elevator was out of order. Montes is confined to a wheelchair. So, without a working elevator, she can’t leave her apartment.“I see it as a disrespect to those who are in need because they’re thinking of themselves but they’re not thinking of those who really need it,” Montes said. Bob Burress, who is also disabled, feels his home is now a prison.“This has been very challenging,” he said. “…I just try to deal with my day and take it one day at a time.”Burress’ day was interrupted ...

In Chicago, where everyone likes to think of themselves as tough, Dick Butkus was the real deal. The Chicago Bears linebacking great, who died Thursday at 80, was considered the toughest guy in a sport in which hitting is not optional. He carried that persona into his post-football life, cashing in on that demeanor in movies and TV and even bringing it to the social media site formerly called Twitter. When Butkus’s account finally was verified in January 2022, he began trolling Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers the day after a Packers playoff loss, writing “Funny, the orange juice tastes a little bit sweeter this morning.”That was why Butkus was still beloved in Chicago decades after his Bears days as a human sledgehammer with a crew cut ended. He never felt the need to be anyone but himself, and that was good enough for us. He later joked about his reputation for creating mayhem.“I’m not so mean,” Butkus told Tribune reporter Cooper...

But the former president did not waive his right to sue again.Trump had accused Cohen of “spreading falsehoods” “with malicious intent” and causing “vast reputational harm” for talking publicly about hush-money payments made to women during Trump’s 2016 campaign that are at the heart of criminal charges he faces in New York. Trump has also accused Cohen of breaking a confidentiality agreement that he signed as a condition of his employment. The former president and GOP front-runner’s decision comes days before he was set to give a deposition in the suit brought in April in Florida.
